I first started speaking after I got to live out my dream of running the New York Marathon, with the support of our local community, my good friend, guide and mentor Andrew Moreton, and Achilles International, the New Zealand chapter that offers opportunities for people with disabilities to take part in events like this.
We began speaking as a way to give back. Fast forward 13 years: 16 marathons, two Half Ironmans, several charity events, competing at the highest level in paracycling, and becoming the first blind female to ride the length of New Zealand. I’m still doing it.
Occasionally Andrew still joins me, and sometimes other friends I’ve met along the way on the road to chasing dreams join me on stage too.
Every presentation is tailored to suit your audience—whether it’s a school, workplace, sports club, or community group.
Gradual sight loss and adapting over time.
Finding my way into sport and high performance.
Managing work, writing, training, and family life.
The systems and support that make it possible.
The challenges, chaos, and crazy moments.
Support Chasing Dreams
I usually ask for a donation to the Chasing Dreams Fund, which supports future blind athletes in New Zealand to chase their own sporting dreams, whether big or small. The amount can be discussed depending on your event.
I can travel locally with ease. National and international events are also welcome, with travel and accommodation covered by the host organisation.
